Hinata's name does not have be spelled with katakana, in fact, it should really be spelled with hiragana, but mangaka tend to take liberties with this kind of thing to make their characters seem "foreign"

If you present it as "I simply took the pose as a base" of course they will agree on it, but you copied everything. And here on dA everyone is able to report whatever they think is not right, which in ths case is copying someone's art, it has nothing to do with friendship whatsoever.

So we have an understanding then. I've chatted with the help desk and various MNAdmins and they said what I'm doing is fine and that if the original artist has a problem with it he should be the one reporting it, not his friend. But then again who cares, I'm going to go make some art.

Well I have the same neglegence to that as well; it's not as if your friend owns the character, nor the clothes, which are colored according the creator of Hinata. Not to mention that he doesn't own that particular pose, I've seen many drawings with such a pose which he may or may not have based his drawing on. I'm a bit surprised you'd bring up the katakana since that's how her name is spelled in Japanese. For the originality, like I said, your art on this account is still fan art nonetheless. As I said before, had I wanted to copy it I would have just taken his picture and put my name on it. Matter of fact, why are we wasting eachother's time with such a pointless argument. When blow comes to blow I'm just going to state how I'm not copying and how you think I am. I think it's best to just end this dispute and use deviantART to post art. Mind you the FAQ that said it's not considered copying to show what you used as reference when doing a picture, not to mention I did the picture a year ago when I was beginning as an artist and I'm proud of it. Just go make some more fanart, I'll say what I used as a reference and we can leave eachother alone. I feel no need to continue such a pointless argument over something that you didn't even make nor the artist who did make the picture even cares about. If vashperado has a problem with the picture, I'll talk to him.

If I have to say it again to you, basing or referencing something such as a pose is one thing, copying is another, and you just copied.
It's not just the pose, it's the same character, same expression, same clothes, same colours, same cropping of the image and position of character in the space, same katakana for her name, so? where is the originality in that?
When you learn that there is a difference between using references or basing your work on something and copying , then I won't have a reason to call you unoriginal, or a copier.

Well I got your comment and wanted to say a few things:

Not to mention I reccomend you read this faq stating it is considered acceptable for artists to reuse or reference ideas, scenes, poses, etc which may be found in the works of other artists as long as you do cite where you based the picture upon if you use a lot of their details.

Before you do bother me about it, I did cite you're friend as the source of my reference. So can we please not do the eyerolling and calling people unoriginal and art copiers?
